What we do

Our work is focused in four main activity areas:

Community-Building

We regularly organize events and activities that foster a sense of community and belonging among Black, African and Afro-descendant people in Poland. Through these activities we also aim to increase the visibility of Black women and non-binary people within our communities.

Direct Support

We support access to basic needs such as housing, healthcare and legal aid. Providing direct support was the kind of work that we initially came together to do and we now continue it as a coalition for those in need.

We also run trainings and workshops, which aim to raise the knowledge and skills needed to navigate everyday life in Poland and support professional development in Poland.

The BJP Scholarship and Educational Support Program

We offer support to students from African countries who wish to pursue their educational goals at a higher education institution in Poland by providing partial financial support toward university fees and other non-financial forms of support to develop professional skills and experience.

Each year we open a call for applications and those selected as BJP scholarship awardees become part of a growing network of Black and African professionals in Poland.

Educational Programming

We design and implement innovative educational programs that raise awareness about anti-Black racism and discrimination in Poland, help address racial trauma, and raise awareness about the history of the African Diaspora in Poland.

The educational programs that are organized under the umbrella of the BJP link an antiracist perspective with intersectional feminist and queer perspectives.
